Trons gåva/Nån sorts gudsbevis

Author: Igår läste jag en artikel om tre bröder som blivit kristna.
Jag lärde känna den äldsta brodern lite grann för några år sedan, de där åren efter konfat då man åkte mycket på läger. Jag tog för självklart att han, liksom jag och så många andra av mina kristna kompisar, “varit kristna hela livet”, dvs var uppvuxen i kristen familj och alltid hade gått i kyrkan, haft aftonbön hemma osv.
Men så efter något år fick jag reda på att nej, han hade blivit kristen på sitt konfaläger. VA?! HAN!? På sitt KONFA??? Han som verkar så… stabil. Händer sånt? Wow. Min bild av denne kille, men ännu mycket mer min bild av kristendomen, vändes helt upp och ner. Att kristendomen kunde verka attraktiv för någon som inte redan såg sig själv som en del av den… det var liksom nåt nytt. Jag tyckte att jag nästan bara hade mött motsatsen.
Senare har jag ju kommit underfund med att det kanske inte är kristendomen som drar, utan Kristus. Gud är ju en person! En person som längtar efter en relation med oss människor. Som gett oss allt. Som gett sig själv på ett kors för att riva den mur som är vår synd, så att relationen kan bli möjlig. Och som ger oss tron. Även den är en gåva.
Gud sprutmålar inte människor med tro. Tron ges åt den som vill ha den. Och tron är inte en bomb som slår ner. Man blir inte bombsäker direkt. Ibland känner man så, men oftast inte. Det är mer ett val man gör. Och då väljer man inte kristendomen. Man väljer Kristus, liksom han först har valt oss. Och här verkar vi, våra olika bakgrunder till trots, tänka exakt likadant, jag och min vän i artikeln (på tal om favoritbibelställen):

Ibland är det tungt att vara kristen och jag kan fundera på varför jag är det. Men så tänker jag precis som Petrus: “Herre, till vem skulle jag gå?” Om man funderar lite på vad alternativet till att vara kristen skulle vara, kan man t ex lyssna på Pink Floyd och Two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl…. Då får man en känsla av vad den totala hopplösheten utan Gud innebär. Man tittar ner i avgrunden och sen flyr man tillbaka till Gud och tar ett stadigt grepp om honom.”
